SEO isn't just about keywords. It's about telling Google clearly and consistently what your business is, who it serves, and where you are. Most small business websites have page titles that say "Home" and meta descriptions that are blank. That's why you're on page 3.

I see this constantly. A beautiful website with no clear next step. No booking link. No opt-in. No "here's what to do if you want to work with me." Visitors don't know what you want them to do, so they leave.

4. The website isn't connected to anything.

Your social media, your email list, your Google Business Profile — they should all be pointing to your website and working together. And underneath all of that, the technical foundations matter too: is your site being indexed by Google? Do you have GA4 set up so you can actually see what's happening? Are you building backlinks? When these aren't in place, you're building in silos and none of it compounds.

5. It hasn't been touched since it launched.

Google rewards fresh, relevant content. A website that hasn't been updated in 12 months is a website that's slowly disappearing from search results.
