I'm Jodie. The Complicated Coach.

I spent 20 years in corporate leadership. I've sat in the boardroom, managed teams, navigated politics, and delivered results under pressure. In 2019 my business was acquired. I stayed on as a senior director reporting to the CEO. In 2024 I left to do the work I was always meant to do.

I am a business development coach. I work 1:1 with small business owners and founders who are skilled, driven, and ready to grow — but stuck in the gap between where they are and where they want to be. The gap is rarely about ability. It's usually about clarity, strategy, and having someone in your corner who isn't afraid to tell you the truth.

Alongside 1:1 coaching, I work as a Fractional Growth and Transformation Director with SMEs and charities, typically one to two days per week. This is senior commercial leadership without the full-time overhead: strategy, structure, revenue growth and the honest conversations that move businesses forward. If you are looking for a director, not a consultant, this is the work.

I also run Complicated Co., an independent organic cotton clothing brand built on the same idea: complicated doesn't have to mean stuck. I host the Complicated Conversations podcast — real conversations with founders, leaders, and people building something. I'm part of Rochelle Humes' Ladies Who Launch and the founding cohort of Kate Ferdinand's Blended community.

The ecosystem is intentional. Clothing, coaching, conversations — three ways into the same world. If you're here, you're probably building something complicated. Good.

What I believe

I believe most people already know what they need to do. They just need space to think clearly, someone to challenge them honestly, and a practical path forward.

I don't do corporate fluff, generic frameworks or motivational posters. I do straight-talking, grounded support — shaped around your real situation.

•ILM Level 7 in Executive Coaching and Mentoring (in progress)

•20+ years of senior leadership and commercial experience across financial services and business consultancy

•Extensive leadership and business development training

Rach and I go back further than the businesses do. We worked together in the corporate world and somewhere

between the meetings and the Monday morning catch-ups, we became proper friends.

Now she's here. Officially part of The Complicated Coach and Complicated Co.,

Rach brings the operational sharpness, the warmth, and the ability to make things actually happen. She's the reason the wheels keep turning.
