I've Been Quiet. And Here's What's Actually Been Happening.
If you've been here before, you might have noticed it's been a while.
The last time I posted on this blog was April 2025. Nearly a year. And if you follow me on Instagram, you'll know I haven't exactly been sitting still — but the blog went quiet, and I think you deserve to know why.
The honest answer is this: I was building. Head down, figuring things out, making mistakes, changing direction, and doing the kind of work that doesn't always look good on a content calendar. The kind that doesn't fit neatly into a caption.
So here's the update. The real one.
What's changed
A lot, actually.
The coaching practice has evolved. When I started The Complicated Coach, I had a clear idea of what I wanted to offer — and then real life, real clients, and real conversations showed me where I actually needed to go. The Start, Scale, and Self framework you'll see on this site now is the result of that. It's not a rebrand for the sake of it. It's what happens when you stop trying to fit your work into a box and start listening to what people actually need.
I also launched Complicated Co. — a clothing brand built around the mental load of modern life. Tees for the overstimulated, the offline, the complicated. It sounds like a side project. It isn't. It's the other half of the same conversation I've been having for years, just in a different medium. If you want to know more, you can find it at complicatedco.co.uk.
Rachel is here
The biggest change, and the one I'm most excited about, is that I'm no longer doing this alone.
Rachel Kennedy joined me at the start of this year as my content and operations partner. She's the reason the content calendar exists, the reason the Instagram is consistent, and the reason I can actually focus on the coaching work without also trying to remember to post on a Tuesday.
Bringing someone into a business you've built alone is terrifying. I won't pretend otherwise. But it's also the thing that made everything else possible. I'll write more about that — the decision, the fear, the reality of it — because I think it's one of the most undertalked parts of growing a small business.
What's coming next
The podcast.
Complicated Conversations launched in March. It's the show I've wanted to make for a long time — honest, practical, occasionally sweary conversations about what it actually takes to build something. Not the highlight reel. The real version.
The first episode is already recorded. I'll tell you more about it very soon. But if you want to be first to know when it drops, make sure you're on the email list — the link is below.
Why I'm telling you all this
Because I think there's a version of "coming back" that involves pretending you were never gone, posting as if nothing happened, and hoping no one notices the gap.
That's not what I want to do here.
The Complicated Coach has always been about the honest version of things. The bits in between the polished moments. The mental load. The complicated. If I can't do that on my own blog, what's the point?
So: I was busy. I was building. I made some decisions I'm proud of and some I'm still figuring out. And now I'm back — with Rachel, with a podcast, and with a lot more to say.
Thanks for still being here.
Jodie
