Ten Things You Won't Find on My Website

If you've been looking for a business coach in Stratford-upon-Avon or anywhere in Warwickshire, you've probably read a lot of websites. Credentials. Case studies. Packages and prices. All useful. All important.

But none of it tells you who you'd be sitting across from.

And that matters. Coaching works when you trust the person in the room. You can't get honest about your business, your leadership or the stuff that keeps you up at night with someone you don't know.

So here are ten things you won't find anywhere else on my website. The human bits. The real bits.

1. Fancy dress. Always.

Give me a theme and I'm in. Full costume, no half measures. I've never understood turning up to a fancy dress party in jeans and a hat. If you're doing it, do it properly.

That's how I coach, too. If we're working together, we're working together. Fully committed, no half measures.

2. Paddy and Ralph, my gorgeous spaniels

Two spaniels. Endless energy. Zero respect for my diary. They get me out of the house and away from the laptop every single day, whatever else is going on. Some of my best thinking happens on a muddy Warwickshire walk with these two.

3. The London Marathon. Slowly.

I've run the London Marathon. Not fast. Slowly. Very slowly. But I finished.

It's the lesson I come back to most with the women I coach. You don't have to be the fastest. You have to keep going. Growth in business looks a lot like mile 20: unglamorous, a bit painful, and completely worth it.

4. Travel and wine

I love to travel and I love a glass of wine. Sauvignon is my tipple, in case you ever need to bribe me. Travel keeps me curious. It reminds me there's always another way of doing things, which is useful when you're helping a business owner who feels stuck.

5. Harry Styles. Twice. By accident.

Yes, really. Twice. Neither time planned. I'm not going to explain further. Some stories are better told in person, over that glass of Sauvignon.

6. Too many house plants

There is no such thing as too many house plants. (There is. I've passed it.) My latest delight is from Sapling & Bud, and I bloody love independents. As a small business owner myself, I'll always shop small where I can.

7. My house has its own Instagram account

It does. Say hello to @myrtleberrylove. It's where the plants, the interiors and the slow living bits go. Proof that a busy business owner can still make space for things that are just for joy.

8. Take That since 1992

I've been a Take That fan since 1992. That's loyalty. My wonderful friends gifted me a piece by Natalie Cass Art, and if you're looking for a gift for a fellow fan, she's brilliant.

9. My clothing brand, Complicated Co.

Alongside coaching, I run Complicated Co., a clothing brand of organic cotton statement tees for complicated lives. It's the same message as my coaching, just one you can wear. Nobody has it all figured out, and that's fine.

10. The book. Slowly. VERY slowly.

I'm writing a book. It's happening. Slowly. Very slowly. Like the marathon, I'll get there. If you're sitting on a big project of your own that keeps getting pushed down the list, you're in good company.

Still a business consultant. Not AI.

Here's the one thing I really want you to take from this.

There's a lot of AI out there right now. AI-written posts. AI-generated advice. Coaching bots that promise to fix your business in a chat window.

I'm not that. I'm a real person with more than 20 years in senior commercial leadership, who has helped scale a business and been through an exit. I left corporate in 2024 to start The Complicated Coach because I wanted to support people who are done with performative success and ready to build something that feels like them.

When you work with a human business coach, you get judgement, lived experience and someone who notices what you're not saying. You also get someone who turns up to parties in full fancy dress. That part is optional for you.

How to choose a business coach who's right for you

If you're weighing up coaches, here's my honest advice:

  • Look past the website. Follow them on social. Listen to their podcast. Get a feel for who they are.

  • Check their real-world experience. Have they run, scaled or led a business themselves?

  • Book a discovery call. You'll know within ten minutes if you can be honest with them.

  • Make sure the offer fits your stage. Early-stage founders need something different to established owners or leaders feeling stretched.
